FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Two-Way Radio Hire FAQs

Answers to the most common questions about hiring two-way radios from Digicom Wireless. If you can't find what you're looking for, our team is happy to help.

How much does two-way radio hire cost?

Two-way radio hire with Digicom Wireless starts from $5 per day, with the final cost depending on the type of radio, hire duration, quantity required and any accessories or repeater equipment included. Longer hire periods and larger fleets attract better daily rates. For an accurate quote, use our instant estimate tool above or speak directly with our hire team.

What industries hire two-way radios?

We supply hire radios across a wide range of Australian industries, including construction, events, security, mining, transport and logistics, hospitality and venues, schools and campuses, facilities management, airports and government operations. Each sector has its own coverage and durability requirements, and our team will recommend the right hire fleet based on your operating environment.

Can I hire two-way radios short term?

Yes. We offer short-term radio hire from as little as one day, which is ideal for one-off events, conferences, festivals, film shoots and short construction or maintenance projects. We also support medium-term hire from one to four weeks and long-term rental for ongoing site operations. Hire periods can be extended at any time if your project runs longer than expected.

Do hired radios come pre-programmed?

Every radio supplied for hire is fully programmed and ready to use on arrival. We configure channels, talk groups and any required features such as emergency calling or lone worker functions before dispatch, so your team can pick up the radios and start communicating straight away with no setup required.

What accessories are included with a radio hire?

Standard hire packages include the radio, battery, belt clip, charger and antenna. Additional accessories can be added to your hire including earpieces, headsets, speaker microphones, multi-bay chargers, spare batteries, vehicle chargers, repeaters and intrinsically safe accessories. Let us know what you need during enquiry and we'll include them in your quote.

Do you supply hire radios with wider-area coverage?

Yes. For large sites or wide-area operations, we can supply portable hire radios paired with mobile radios, fixed or portable repeaters, and WAVE PTX devices that operate over cellular networks for nationwide coverage. Our team will assess your coverage requirements and recommend the right combination of equipment for your site or event.

Do you offer intrinsically safe radio hire?

Yes. Digicom Wireless supplies intrinsically safe two-way radio hire across Australia for use in hazardous areas, including Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments where flammable gases, vapours, combustible dust or fibres may be present. Our intrinsically safe (IS) hire fleet covers leading brands including Motorola radios, Hytera radios, Entel radios and more, with all units certified to internationally recognised standards such as IECEx, ATEX and UL rated or TIA-4950 depending on the hazardous environment.

Whether you call it intrinsically safe, explosion proof or hazardous area certified, the principle is the same: these radios are engineered to limit exposure. Common hire applications include oil and gas, mining, petrochemical and chemical processing, refineries, fuel storage, grain handling, pharmaceutical manufacturing and emergency response operations.

We also supply matching ATEX and IECEx certified accessories for hire, including intrinsically safe earpieces, headsets, speaker microphones, batteries and chargers, keeping the entire setup compliant for use in hazardous areas. When enquiring, let our team know your site's zone classification (Zone 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 or 22) and required certification standard, and we'll match the right Motorola, Hytera, Entel or alternative brand radios to your operation.

What happens at the end of the hire period?

Returning hire equipment is straightforward. We agree on a return process at the start of your hire, which is typically either a pre-arranged courier collection or return to our Sydney depot. If you'd like to extend your hire, transition to a long-term rental, or purchase the equipment you've been using, our team can arrange that at any point.
